Trade Show Profile: CEATEC 2006

Portelligent attended the annual CEATEC trade show at Makuhari Messe, outside Tokyo, October 3-7, 2006.

CEATEC Japan (CEATEC stands for “Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies – Providing Image, Information, and Communications), held in October each year in Japan, provides perhaps the world's broadest view of the full food chain of the electronics industry, from leading-edge components and materials, to the latest consumer electronic products, to emerging content offerings. The theme of CEATEC 2006 was "Digital Convergence Changing Society, Lifestyles, and Business." According to the show's organizers -- Communications and Information Network Association of Japan (CIAJ), Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA), and the Computer Software Association of Japan (CSAJ) -- "the term 'digital convergence' refers to the integration of technologies, industries and markets, which have until now developed independently, into new industries and markets supported by common digital formats."

This year’s CEATEC show featured 807 exhibitors, and had registered attendance over the five day period of the show of approximately 195,000 person visits.
