The annual CEATEC event -- the largest trade show for the Japanese electronics and communications sectors -- took place Sept. 30 - Oct. 4, 2008, at Makuhari Messe, a huge convention center located outside of Tokyo. A characteristic of CEATEC that makes it extremely valuable in tracking developments in Japan and Asia is its breadth of coverage: the event brings together the entire "food chain" of the electronics industry, from component and IC suppliers, to product and handset makers, to wireless carriers and other service providers.
The Portelligent Tech Perspective "Trade Show Profile: CEATEC Japan 2008" is a highly visual overview, organized by company, of some of the more interesting, significant, and in some cases downright quirky, technologies and products introduced and exhibited at CEATEC 2008.
