Product DescriptionThe mission, as stated on the Motorola Website, is to “connect the unconnected.” This rugged, slim, light-weight, bar-form mobile phone is priced to target first-time users in the developing world, though it may also be attractive to veteran users who want a simple phone to make calls and little else. There are voice prompts, in local languages, to guide even the most novice of users (and potentially illiterate users) quickly through the limited menu of options. Intuitive graphical icons visually demonstrate the menu features as well, and provide read-outs on network status and battery strength.
Features include a large, high-contrast electrophoretic display (EPD) from E-Ink, (termed “ClearVision,” by Moto) that delivers very high visibility in almost any lighting condition or viewing angle. There is also SMS messaging (read & write), downloadable ring-tones, an alarm, time and date-set functions, a speakerphone, incoming and outgoing call logs, the ability to store contact information on the SIM card, and a single headphone/charger port.
Motorola claims up to 8.3 hours of talk-time and 300 hours of standby operation on the 3.7V / 750mAh Li-Ion battery.
