Product Description

The Motorola RAZR V3, an updated version of the original 2004 RAZR classic, is available through AT&T Wireless under its “GoPhone” pay-as-you-go plan, as well as through other carriers. The new RAZR V3 is a quad-band GSM/GPRS “world phone,” that can be compared to the original version of the RAZR V3 analyzed by Portelligent in October 2004 (see report #Motorola V3 GSM Phone #118.17-041006-1f)..The new V3 weighs an ounce less than the previous version and costs only $129.99 with a GoPhone plan?compared to the initial $700.00 price tag of the previous model. As with the 2004 V3 RAZR, the new V3 has two displays: an external CSTN display and an internal TFT-LCD display (262,144 colors). Both handsets employ VGA-resolution cameras, although the camera assembly itself appears to have been upgraded with the new release. Other features include Bluetooth, support for several instant-messaging services (AOL, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo!), and voice-activation and advanced voice-dialing features not included in the previous model. The new V3 RAZR still has a 1000-name address book and suite of PIM (personal information management) tools similar to its predecessor. This report highlights differences between the new RAZR V3 and the RAZR V3 analyzed in 2004.
