Product DescriptionThe Motorola W220 was announced in February of 2006 and available to the market in the third quarter of 2006. This dual band cellular phone operates on the GSM network at 900 MHz and 1800 MHz. Features found in the W220 include an integrated FM radio, Class 10 GPRS, calculator, organizer, Java MDIP 2.0, and T9 (iTAP) predictive text. Using the ever-popular clamshell form, the W220 is available in different colors, with preinstalled games, ringtones, SMS & MMS messaging, and WAP 2.0/xHTML browser. The unit uses a 1.5 inch, 65K color CSTN display for viewing images and internet browsing. Motorola used their own lithium-ion battery in this design, model BT50. The BT50 is a 3.7 V, 850 mAh single-cell prismatic battery weighing 19.4 grams, which accounts for 20% of the total body weight of the phone. Talk time is reported to be eight plus hours with twelve days of battery life when the phone is in standby mode. With a body weight just over 93 grams, the W220 measures 95.2 x 47.3 x 17.2 mm thick in the closed position, and stretches out to 160 mm when open. The slim Motorola W220 retails for under $200 USD.
