Product DescriptionReleased through Virgin Mobile in the U.S. market and branded UTStarcom, the ARC CDM-8074 is actually made by Pantech of Korea (identified by reading the fine print on the label when the battery cover is removed). The ARC is a compact single-mode CDMA 1900MHz handset (it measures 92mm x 48.4mm x 20.6mm when closed) that weighs less than 85 grams. The ARC is a basic clamshell phone featuring two color displays, a VGA camera with 4x digital zoom, Bluetooth, flight mode, a Web browser, and text and MMS messaging. It supports both English and Spanish, as well as providing voice recognition of commands and support for custom ringtones and graphics. Virgin Mobile’s VirginXL service allows the user to access downloadable ringtones, graphics, and games over the cellular network.
The UTStarcom-branded 3.7V / 850mAh Li-ion battery allows the ARC to be used for a reported talk time of 3.5 hours and standby time of 350 hours. Although the ARC has what appears to be a data port, there is no mention of any such connector in the user manual or on Virgin Mobile’s website.
