Product DescriptionThe BlackBerry 8100 is a smaller, lighter, bar form-factor RIM terminal, with features designed to broaden consumer appeal of the traditionally business-user-centered RIM family. Music/video playback, MicroSD expansion memory, a 1.3 Mpixel camera (w/LED flash, 5X digital zoom, and white balance control) join up with the traditional BlackBerry email and internet services in the 8100. Along with a quad-band GSM/EDGE cellular interface, the 8100 provides Bluetooth 2.0 and USB connectivity. Located just below the 240 x 260 pixel TFT LCD (65,536 color) is a white illuminated trackball that is behind this product's namesake, the "Pearl". The trackball replaces the scroll wheel of earlier RIM models, providing 4-way scrolling through menus and a Select Button function when depressed. Four LEDs are used to illuminate the trackball with context-specific colors and light-sensing automatically adjusts the screen, trackball and keyboard lighting for different ambient conditions. The "SureType" QWERTY keyboard remains from previous models. A talk time of 3.5 hours and 360 hours of standby operation is claimed for the 3.7V/900mAh Li Ion battery.
