Product Description

An update to RIM’s flagship “Blackberry Bold” model, the 9700 looks like a slightly smaller, slimmer version of its predecessor. The key external difference is the “track pad,” a combination push-button and touchpad control that replaces the familiar Pearl trackball seen on the Bold 9000 and several other Blackberry models. The 9700 also benefits from a faster processor and a camera upgrade from 2.0 to 3.2 megapixels. Otherwise, the basic feature set remains intact and includes WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, Web Browser, and Media Player. The full QWERTY keypad enables office applications and messaging. Given the similarities between the two models, the 9700 appears to be aimed squarely at loyal Bold 9000 users whose 2008 service contracts will allow for a new phone with renewal in 2010. The manufacturer claims six hours of talk time and 408 hours of standby from the 3.7V/1500mAh Li-polymer battery.
