Product DescriptionOn January 4, 2007, SanDisk announced the SSD UATA 5000, a 32GB, 1.8-inch Solid State Drive (SSD). Aimed at notebook and tablet PC users, this small form-factor SSD is a drop-in replacement for mechanical drives. SanDisk’s fifth generation of SSDs is reported to have over 10 years of field and reliability testing behind it. SanDisk reports that these drives, which use their “True FFS” flash management technology, have a mean time to failure (MTTF) rate of 2 million hours. Other performance factors include a file-read rate of 67MB/sec and an average file access rate of 0.11 msec. The SSD UATA 5000 uses half the power of conventional hard drives, which means extended battery life for users.
