Product DescriptionWith the release of the Xperia Play R800i on April 1, 2011, Sony Ericsson merged the PlayStation gaming platform with their Xperia smartphone lineup. By incorporating the familiar PlayStation game controller in slide-out form, Sony Ericsson hopes to avoid the same fate that befell Nokia’s N-Gage platform. The Xperia Play R800i operates on quad-band GSM/EDGE as well as W-CDMA/HSDPA/HSUPA 900/2100 MHz networks. It also supports WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, and A-GPS. Navigation is possible using the multitouch capacitive touchscreen overlaid on a 4” LTPS TFT-LCD (480x854 pixels; 16,777,216 colors). The rear-facing 5 MP camera is equipped with autofocus & LED flash, while the front of the Xperia Play contains a VGA camera and ambient light/proximity sensors. Power is supplied by a 3.6 V/1500 mAh Li-Polymer battery.
