Product DescriptionThe low-cost, candy-bar style Vodafone 250 is a bare-bones dual GSM phone, released for India and parts of Africa where cell phone usage is starting to increase. The Vodafone 250 provides the basic function for a cellular phone: a 1.45” CSTN display, an FM radio, SMS texting, 100 entry phone-book, a couple preloaded games, and an LED flashlight. Its design is straightforward and it weighs only 49.4 grams (without a battery). TCL is the phone manufacturer for Vodafone.
The 250 was announced back in February of 2010 along with Vodafone’s 150 model ($15 retail). The 150 has a smaller display and lacks an FM radio, however, like the 250, it is still able to send and receive SMS messages, if only on a ½” smaller display versus the 250.
The Vodafone 250 retails for $20 (US). It should be noted for this report a battery was not available and thus the battery subsystem information is not available. The estimated battery cost is based on experience with previous phone batteries. Based on literature the phone uses a 3.7 V, 500mAh Li-ion battery with a reported talk time of 5 hours of and stand-by time of 400 hours.
