Product Description

The Toshiba W56T is a flip-type smartphone offered for the high-end Asian market. KDDI AU is the service provider. The W56T has a 2.8” OLED WQVGA display (240 x 400 pixels). With KCP+, an integrated platform created in cooperation with Qualcomm, KDDI au is able to offer the latest services available on handsets, including assisted GPS and OneSeg TV service that supports both Digital TV & Radio. The display can be rotated 360° for Digital TV or video viewing. The user can also download and listen to tunes in stereo with AU’s LISMO service (similar to iTunes). The W56T is also equipped with the EZ FeliCA electronic wallet feature. The KDDI au WIN data service claims maximum data transfer rates of 3.1Mbps (downlink) and 1.8Mbps (uplink), using 1xED-DO Rev. A. Other features includes a matrix of red LEDs that form varying patterns each time the phone is opened or closed, the WIN logo (see photo at left) that flashes green to alert the user of an incoming communication, and an RSS scroll and search box present on the display when the phone is opened. The W56T also has two cameras: a 3.2MP external auto-focus camera with a white-light LED flash (which also serves as a flashlight) and a VGA internal camera for video conferencing.
