UTStarcom and Virgin Mobile have joined forces to produce the PCS1400VM “Slice” mobile phone. The “Slice” has a thin bar form and features a 1.5-inch (128 x 128 pixel), 65,536-color CSTN display, WAP 2.0 web-browser, speakerphone & headset, text messaging (T9), 500 multi-entry phone book, type A-GPS, 1xRTT data transfer, T9 text messaging, stopwatch, calculator, alarm, memo, and calendar. However, it has no camera and is not BluetoothTM capable. The “Slice” is a simple-to-operate phone geared toward the youth market. It does not require a contract and has a street price of under $50.00 dollars (U.S.). The 3.7V, 900mAh Li-ion battery is claimed to support 3.8 hours of talk-time and 270 hours of standby operation.
