The Samsung Access SGH-a827, released for AT&T, is the first mid-tier handset to offer AT&T Mobile TV (~$199.00 with service contract and ~$449.00 without). AT&T’s Mobile TV service, based on Qualcomm’s MediaFLO technology, lets users watch full-length episodes of TV shows on major networks like CBS, Comedy Central, ESPN, Fox, MTV, and NBC. In addition to mobile TV, the SGH-a827 supports Bluetooth and HSDPA for high-speed downloading of music and video. The handset integrates a 1.3MP camera with 8x digital zoom and adjustable brightness control for taking still shots, multi-shots, or video. With a Video Share-capable SIM (ISIM card), real-time video can be shared with others who subscribe to the service. Other features include an MP3 music player, 64 polyphonic ringtones, embedded JAVA games and downloads, T9 predictive text entry, instant messaging, multi-party calls, to-do list, speakerphone, world clock, stopwatch, currency converter, calculator, memo book, calendar, and alarm. The 3.7V, 900mAh, Li-ion battery reportedly delivers 4 hours of talk time and 400 hours of stand by time.
