Product Description The new Kindle 2.0 reader boasts a number of improvements over its predecessor. Most apparent is the upgrade to a 16-level gray scale screen, from the 4-level screen found on the original Kindle. The new 6” glare-free electrophoretic display also claims 20% faster refresh times. Other improvements include a 25% increase in battery life, the addition of Text to Speech (TTS) capability, improved placement of buttons, and a slimmer and sleeker external design. The Kindle 2.0 has 2GB of internal memory (~1.4 GB is available to the user), and uses EV-DO wireless network connectivity to Amazon’s proprietary WhisperNet for access to more than 230,000 book titles including over 7,000 free public domain classics.
