Insulet OmniPod Insulin Management System

The world’s first tubing-free insulin pump, the OmniPod insulin pump system is discreet and durable, wireless and incredibly easy to use. With just two user-friendly parts that communicate wirelessly, the OmniPod® Insulin Management System simplifies insulin pump therapy. The waterproof Pod integrates the pumping mechanism, cannula, needle, and insulin reservoir (holding up to 200 usable units) into one wearable unit. The PDM (Personal Diabetes Manager) wirelessly programs insulin delivery, calculates suggested doses, and has a convenient, built-in FreeStyle® blood glucose meter. The OmniPod System downloads insulin delivery, Blood Glucose and carbohydrate records to the CoPilot® Health Management System, enabling you to create customized reports, charts and graphs of your records. You can download this software at no charge. During priming, each Pod establishes a unique, one to-one relationship with your PDM, through wireless technology, so there is no chance of someone else’s PDM interfering with your OmniPod System.

Nonin OnyxII 9560 Medical Bluetooth Oximeter

The trend in physiological monitoring, specifically innovation in Biophotonics, continues with the Nonin Onyx® II Model 9560 Bluetooth 2.0 Oximeter. This is a wireless fingertip Oximeter which provides a simplified and secure way to monitor a patient’s % of oxygenated hemoglobin in arterial blood. It can display, store, or transmit the data to a monitoring device via Bluetooth technology.

There are two LEDs present within the meter housing and a detector / sensor arranged on the opposite side. One LED emits in the near IR and the other emits Red light. The patient’s finger is placed within the oximeter between the emitters and the detector. The absorption of light through the finger will vary with the % of oxygen contained in the hemoglobin of the blood. The RED and IR absorption signals are compared and an algorithm calculates the % of oxygen in the blood as well as the pulse rate, with the results displayed on the device’s display.
