Samsung GT-B3710 4G LTE USB Data Dongle: The Samsung GT-B3710 USB dongle for wireless data supplies connectivity for the world’s first LTE (Long-Term Evolution) 4G commercial network for TeliaSonera in Stockholm, Sweden, and Oslo, Norway. According to Samsung, the next version of the GT-B3710 will also support both EDGE and HSPA. The built-in software provides the interface for connecting to the cellular network. Other notable features include a multi-color status LED and a pivoting USB connector that allows more flexibility in placement and could improve connectivity when a more vertically oriented antenna position is used. Amazon Kindle 2.0 D00701 World e-Reader: The latest Amazon Kindle (model D00701) is identical in all outward appearances to the previous Kindle 2.0 (see TechInsights Report #15000-090305-BBf). Internally, the major difference is in the protocol for wireless communication. The previous model uses CDMA, while the latest model employs HSDPA and 3G wireless global coverage with fallback to EDGE/GPRS. Although the battery capacity for both models is identical, the latest model claims an increase in reading time between charges from four days to one week with wireless turned on. Both claim two weeks with wireless turned off, indicating a more efficient wireless system in the latest model.
